William Penn University

A bust of William Penn, the early Statesman, founder of Pennsylvania, and namesake for William Penn University, was created by Tom Oliver, graduate of 1972. Jim Davis, former trustee and lifelong friend of former Penn president, John D. Wagoner, donated the art piece in memory of President Wagoner.

Wartburg College

Founded in 1852, Wartburg College is a selective four-year liberal arts college of the Lutheran Church (ELCA), nationally recognized for community engagement. The college offers more than 50 academic majors and preprofessional and certificate programs leading to the bachelor's degree.Wartburg College traces its roots to 1852, when Pastor Wilhelm Löhe of Neuendettelsau, Bavaria, sent Pastor Georg Grossmann to America to work as a missionary of the Lutheran faith. With five students, Grossmann founded a teacher-training school for German immigrants in Saginaw, Mich.

Vennard College

While general contributions have been up approximately 50% over a year ago, thechallenge of growing enrollment beyond 70-100 students has not been realized in a
number of years. The strain of small enrollment with increasing costs led to a projected deficit of $300,000 for the fall 2008 semester. Realizing that the deficit would only be compounded in the spring of 2009, the governing body was faced with making the only
choice it could.
